Day One: Welcome and Bonjour!
Welcome to the stunning South of France! Get ready for an unforgettable week immersed in art, culture, and connection. We’ll begin in true French style—with a warm welcome and a sparkling cocktail reception at your hotel.
Day Two: Matisse and Chagall
Matisse and Chagall both called this sun-drenched corner of France home, and their creative spirits still linger here. This morning, you’ll enjoy a self-guided visit to the Matisse Museum, home to many of the artist’s most celebrated works. Then, continue to the Chagall Museum for lunch and a guided tour of its breathtaking collection—an inspiring showcase of color, light, and imagination.
Day Three: The Most Charming Village
Today begins with more Matisse—this time experienced in situ at the Matisse Chapel, a deeply personal project created for the nuns who cared for the artist during an illness. His legacy shines here through his striking use of color and light. We’ll enjoy lunch on our own in the charming town of Vence before continuing to the Fondation Maeght, a true dream for contemporary art lovers. Later, there’s time to wander the hilltop medieval village of St-Paul-de-Vence, one of the most picturesque spots in all of France.
Day Four: A Villa with a View
Today’s adventure takes us to the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild, the elegant home of the eccentric Béatrice de Rothschild. This exquisite villa is a work of art in itself, from its distinctive architecture to its lush themed gardens—all set against some of the most breathtaking views on the Riviera. After our self guided tour, we’ll enjoy a group lunch at the villa’s charming café. The afternoon is then yours to savor Nice on your final night here—perhaps book a beach chair and relax by the sparkling Mediterranean Sea.
Day Five: The Glittering Cannes
We depart Nice first thing this morning and travel to the glamorous seaside town of Cannes. Best known for its famous film festival, Cannes was also home to the painter Pierre Bonnard. We’ll begin our visit at the museum dedicated to his work, exploring his vibrant and intimate creations. After some free time to soak in the charm of this iconic city, we’ll continue on to our next home base, Aix-en-Provence.
Day Six: Market Day
There’s nothing quite like market day in the South of France, and Aix-en-Provence boasts one of the very best! The morning is yours to wander through this iconic market, soaking in the sights, sounds, and flavors of Provence. We’ll reconvene in the afternoon for a visit to the Granet Museum, a treasure trove of art spanning centuries and styles.
Day Seven: Van Gogh in Arles
Spend a day in Arles immersed in the world of Vincent van Gogh. Begin with a visit to the Van Gogh Museum, where you’ll explore the artist’s life and works created during his time in this vibrant Provençal town. Afterward, step outside for a Van Gogh–themed walking tour, tracing the streets, cafés, and landscapes that inspired some of his most iconic paintings. It’s a day that brings the colors, energy, and spirit of Van Gogh vividly to life.
Day Eight: A Tale of Two Popes
In Avignon, we step into the rich history and art of this remarkable city. Our day begins at the imposing Papal Palace, a stunning Gothic fortress that was once the residence of the popes, offering breathtaking architecture and sweeping views of the Rhône. From there, we head to the Angladon Museum, home to an impressive collection of paintings, drawings, and decorative arts, including works by Van Gogh, Cézanne, and Picasso—an inspiring blend of classical and modern masterpieces.
Day Nine: Cezanne
On our final day, we celebrate the art and flavors of Provence. In the morning, we visit Cézanne’s studio, a lovingly preserved space that offers an intimate glimpse into the life and work of one of the region’s most beloved painters. Afterward, we journey to a local winery for a guided tour, discovering the winemaking process and sampling some of the finest regional vintages. The day—and our trip—concludes with a memorable farewell dinner at the winery, surrounded by the beautiful vineyards and savoring the tastes of Provence one last time.
Day Ten: Au Revoir et Merci!
By now, you’ve experienced some of the most iconic art of the South of France, soaked in breathtaking scenery, and formed connections that will last a lifetime. Today we check out of the hotel and begin our journey home, carrying with us memories of an unforgettable week.
